Wednesday Word: Confabulate

confabulate

[kənˈfabyəˌlāt]

VERB

  1. formal engage in conversation; talk. "she could be heard on the telephone confabulating with someone" synonyms: talk · speak · chat · have a conversation · have a talk · have a discussion

When I was talking to a coworker about data that I needed for a report, we started talking about various topics. It turned out that someone was IM'ing him (well, a BOSS was IM'ing him), so he begged off of the conversation. I said to him, "Of course! We are now simply confabulating." And off the phone we were.

Work this into your vocabulary when you are having a simple conversation with someone. I know you can do it!
